Google Earth

How many people use Google Earth? Many im sure. well if you may have notice, there is a ruler built in that you can use. I used this ruler to measure the land so I can figure how much there is to mow. I also have a built a Area Calculator for this located here ****> Area Calculator (http://www.pnplawncare.com/area_calculator.php#) I mean this really helps when I give figure on bush hogging jobs so on. Just thought this might help you on bidding on jobs you can really see.

Yes, Google Earth is great. I was interviewed by the Wall Street Journal on this subject.

The ruler function is okay to use if you have one or two areas to measure. However, if you have a complex such as the one you referenced in a different thread, this could take forever. Instead, there is an application available online which let's you draw polygons around each area. You save those polygons as a .kml and the program will calculate combined area. Also, you can draw lines on each section that you need to weedeat to give you a linear calculation helpful to estimate time spent with a line trimmer.

I'm speaking with the author of that app to try to develop an even better estimating program.

Oh, sorry. I must have gotten distracted by something shiny.

My lawn care estimating calculators are more involved than just calculating for area. I include area calculators too but that's just one part of the entire process.

Area tools such as this are going to become more and more handy to lawn care companies bidding on large contracts as well as a whole host of other companies.

Let me know of other lesser used GE tools. I'm always looking to learn more about that app.
