View Full Version : Would you spend $1,000 for this marketing?

I saw on the news the other day a politician offered $20.00 to each person filling up their car's gas tank. He offered this up to the first 50 people. So this marketing stunt cost him $1,000 but it brought him national news coverage.
Would this be something that would be worth it to you?

I don't think that stunt would net you many new customers for it. Attention maybe.... but what would be your angle?
"I'm tired of having to pay at the pump when too many customers don't wanna pay what it costs to run this type of business.... either way, with these fuel prices, I'm losing. So I figured I'd just stand here at the pump and give my money away and skip all the hard work."
Might get you news coverage...?

I don't know how well it would work, but I think it might bring a business owner a lot of media attention. Maybe you could hand out flyers to certain areas. These flyers could promote this $20 of free gas.
Then I guess I would wonder, what is the general acquisition cost a lawn care business owner pays to attract new clients?
