A recent one said this:
I have a few suggestions to help you make 2008 a year full
· Sit down either today or sometime over the next few days
and write out your goals. Write out short term and long term
goals. Then post them somewhere you can see them
· Create your 12 month magical marketing calendar. I've spent
quite a bit of time talking about this over the past week or
so, mostly because it's such a powerful business building tool.
· Review all aspects of your marketing plan. This includes
your USP, your target market, your marketing materials, and
everything else you'll be using to create new business. Make
sure they're all still relevant and that they still allow you
to set yourself apart from your competition.
· Make marketing a priority. Study effective marketing and
learn how to use it in your business. To be truly successful
this year, or any year for that matter, you NEED to be an
effective marketer. In fact, marketing should be your #1
priority so set a goal to learn what makes good marketing
and learn how to employ it to your advantage.
If you'll follow these steps this year, I can virtually
guarantee your success in 2008.
If there are two things you study regularly, it should be industry related information, articles, books, etc, and effective marketing practices. If you already know what you're doing on a mower (etc), then marketing should indeed be your first priority... if you don't quite know what you're doing on a mower (etc), then you shouldn't be in business.... lol

When you reflect now on business, what percentage of your time do you feel should be about performing the service you perform and what percentage of the time should you be the showman trying to attract business?

Well, right now, our theory is that every waking moment of daylight hours not spent on lawn care services should be spentn on marketing... and some dark-time hours, too. After reading the emails from Chestin and then watching that last video, it really makes me rethink my marketing strategy, though... I want to be more organized and focused when it comes to marketing.
...now that I have a 1 month platinum membership to Chestin's marketing program, I should get on the right track in no time. Thanks again, Steve!
