We have been talking a lot lately about using myspace to market your lawn care business. One of our friends Adam, really has been doing a great job. He was able to utilize one of our free halloween door hanger templates as well as our free halloween lawn care business postcard design and include them in a bulletin he sent out to all his friends on myspace. Myspace bulletins allow you to post a message all of your friends can read. It's a great way to keep your friends up to date on what you are doing or what new services you are offering.

He promoted that his business can create fall and halloween outdoor decorations for your home or business.

Great job Adam! Very creative thinking on your part!

If you are using myspace to promote your lawn care business, consider this lawn care business marketing idea from Adam.

Keep us posted on how the myspace marketing works.

Have you been able to add a lot of local people to your friends list?

I think in order for these marketing campaigns on myspace to work, a lawn care operator would need to have many potential clients in their friend's list.

Here is my myspace lawn care page, still working on it. Maybe i can gain business this way to, by finding businesses here in town that have a myspace. And maybe lear them to call me,lol

Thats my goal...

I want to get as many folks on my friends list as possible! *The more the better http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I just got Green Paws Lawn Care (http://myspace.com/greenpawslawncare) up a few days ago and already I have 33 friends...of course most of them are already my friends on my personal myspace but I haven't even began to hit them all up yet...I only sent friend request to page one of my friends so far.

That and I have had a few request from folks here that have myspaces which is really cool http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

But really I haven't even started to market it yet...

I did do a search last week for animal lovers in Dallas just to see what would come up and I got like 10,000 profiles...Next spring when I really start to market the myspace those are the folks I am going to send out friend request too.

By then I hope to already have a good bit of friends and comments already going...I think if I do more folks will be prone to accept my friend request http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Tara,

I just had another idea for you. You could offer seminars to local organizations on pets and lawn care. Talk about lawn care issues that can negatively effect your pet and what you can do about them. Talk about which products you should or shouldn't use.

Then you could talk about how your business is pet friendly and bring your doggy along too http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

This could be videotaped and put on your site as well.

It would be a great way to reach out to your community and potentially turn these people into new customers.

I love this idea!!

I have already thought about doing a monthly news letter/bulletin about pets and lawns. I want to try and convince everyone that just because you have pets doesn't mean you can't have a beautiful lawn.

I have a bunch of ideas on some topics to get me started...I wonder if I can get enough together to actually pull off a seminar by spring http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

And where would I hold it...maybe one of our areas rescues or shelters???

Hi Tara,

You could offer to give it to residents of the town at a library. You could probably get an ad for it in the paper for free as a community news event. Also look to give it to community groups.

Instead of trying to organize a group, go to an already organized group.

What do you think of that?

My mother has been a Librian for about 30 years now. She would be able to tell me exactly who to talk to and how to pitch it http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I am thinking definately something to try and do for spring!

I would say, don't make it seem like a commercial speech. Of course you would plug your business at the end but make it seem more of an educational lecture.

The library should give you a room to do this for free.

I bet your mom would have many stories of other community seminars that they have hosted.

This could be a really great way to reach out to new potential customers.

Maybe you could even come up with a program for school children and discuss the uses or organic vs. non-organic fertilizer. Being 'green' now is very much in vogue.

This is obviously a HOT Topic so here is my input. The customer market for myspace is low compaired to (just my opinion) yahoo, google or even msn LOCAL SEARCH. Yahoo local you can post all you services, website (for reference use) and alot more if you take the time to set it up. In my area I list no lower than 5 in a 25 mile radius, there is about 100+ listed. It is statistically proven, most people needing yard work or anyother service will look here before looking in the yellow pages, it is much faster to search you out in the local listings. The best part is it's FREE ADVERTISING.

I keep a chart of how customers hear about us and over 70% of them are from Yahoo Local Directory. 20% are from flyers and the remaining are from word of mouth.

I'm not saying it wont work but myspace was not developed for this purpose and you may get kicked out for spaming.

Just another opinion or point of view.

Always good to hear about more ways to get yourself out there...

I signed us up!!

As for the myspace...I am just having fun with it. I have a personal myspace that I have had for years. Finally decided to make a company one to take advantage of the free marketing and networking opps myspace does offer http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Actually the myspace has already gotten us a new customer because it reminded one of our basset friends *we meet once a month or so with a big group of basset hound owners at the different dog parks we have in our area* that we do have a lawn company and well she needs a new back lawn http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Tara,

I really like what you are doing, mixing your interest with dogs and your business. Then you are able to use your social network to get the word out about your lawn care business. I see big things happening this year.

This is very interesting to know and it should make any lco reading this want to fill out the yahoo information!

Thank you so much for this!
