I would like to put an "estimate form" on my site. What do I need to do this?
Also, I am using a Gopher template. It has a Log-in form on it. Should I delete this? I don't know how to use it and don't think I have a need for it.

All you need.. is what you want on the form..

All I have to do is go to my website. Just in Time Yard Services form (http://www.jitys.ca/eng/form1.php)

Go check out my form and let me know if you want the exact form or did ya want to add more items.

Then i'll send you the code and voila

You will have a working form *http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Your form looks good. That'd be cool if you sent me the code. Where would a person find this code otherwise?

It's actually one of the projects I wanted to do when I was studying Web Design back 2 yrs ago so the code is actually written by me so yeah.

I don't want to give out my code to everybody but I don't mind helping you out making a form

Oh ok. So a person would just have to know how to code. I should get a book on this stuff! http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I'm willing to share my code for forms

If anybody interested let me know...

If your looking for a good book... mine is 888 pages + the cd is full of code (all the code from the book) and it has the mail form that I created but modified to my needs.

The book is called PHP and MySQL Web Development - 3rd edition by Luke Welling and Laura Thomson

Basically, customer contact info, and boxes for them to check for interest; lawn care, aeration, mulch, fertilizing, landscape, other and a comments box.

In order for the form to work properly you need to upload all 4 files to the same section of your server.

And sorry Justin if I stepped on any toes I am just here to help.

I put all 4 files on the server. Then I try to go to the form page to see if it worked and I got this message:

No <xml> data file found
Please upload the data xml file
Either sendmail or smtp is not properly configured on your system.
Please contact your hosting provider to correct this problem.

I don't understand, because I put the xml file on the server. Any ideas?

make sure you are trying to access the 'cs_form.html' file to open the form. What is the url that you uploaded it to?

caseyshields
12-12-2007, 10:30 PM
It is uploaded to shieldslawncare.com
It shows up, but when I fill it out and hit submit, it gives me that xml message.

What about using something like this site?
http://www.jotform.com/

I found it earlier today when I was trying to learn about html codes.

The basic service is free.

Hi Rob,

Nice find! Have you used that yet? What do you think about it?

No I haven't used it yet. I haven't learned how to edit my site yet. But I am going to try it out when I learn how though.

There was also another one called www.wufoo.com but you are only allowed 3 free forms. There was a bunch of them that I saw but these 2 are the ones that seemed the easiest to use.
