When trying to use backup you encounter the following error:
"internal gds software consistency check."
Or during the regular use of the program you encounter an error that mentions a "consistency" problem.

Go to File | Backup Database | Advanced tab
Change the "No Garbage Collection" checkbox to CHECKED
Go back to the Backup tab and click Backup.
After the backup is complete, click OK, go to the Restore tab and click the Restore button.
