I would like to start a thread for users to discuss the in's and outs of the export tool.
There is a thread on how to run the tool, but once it runs what should we all look out for.
So please post here any tips or suggestions on using both programs together.
One thing I noticed is Gopher exports all the service items/income into a QuickBooks chart of accounts called "job related cost/costs of goods". I'm not sure what my accountant will say, but it seems like these items should be in the "service/income" account.
I also noticed that the invoices exported to QB will show an item called "Gopher service", but the description exports fine. When you print a QB invoice all is fine because all it prints is the description. I would like to see Gopher export the actual service items correctly though. Because if you try to print a Statement the line items show as "Gopher service". This would be very confusing to send to a customer. They would probably call asking if they have a Gopher problem they were not aware of. I'm still waiting to hear from Gopher to suggest a work around.
Gopher, would it be easier now that everything is exported to create all the service items in QB first. Since I don't use Gopher for accounting I could start Gopher with a new company file. Will the export tool import QB service list exactly as they are named, or would it do the same as Gopher and call them "QB service".
I really don't care what they are called in QB if we could get the statements to print the description instead of the item like the invoices do. Statements are one thing I prefer to print from QB because it has more options.
I would like service items to show in the corresponding QB income account called service with sub accounts for each item.
All and all I think Gopher has done a great job coming out with this export tool. It is leaps and bonds better then the old way of exporting. Once they get all the bugs worked out and introduce the finished product I would like to see Gopher get certified as a QB compliance program.
