Gopher across a network

Is it possible to run Gopher across my home network? Normaly I do all my work in the office, but it would be nice to be able to sit on the couch with the laptop to do scheduling.

I would also like to be able to take my laptop into the field to do estimates and so on then update the databse when I get home so it is reflected on all the computers.

Can this be done simply?
