Here are some troubleshooting tips if you encounter the following error while synchronizing with QuickBooks Pro:
"Unable to initiate session to QuickBooks Pro
Make sure QuickBooks Pro is running and your company file is open"

1) Make sure QuickBooks Pro (2003 or newer) is running and your company file is open.
2) Make sure you have installed the QBFC Installer (available here (http://www.gophersoftware.com/qb)).
3) Check that QuickBooks Pro is configured to allow Gopher to communicate with it-
a) In QB, go to Edit | Preferences, scroll down to Integrated Applications, click on the Company Preferences tab. Make sure the "Don't allow any applications to access this company file" checkbox is NOT checked.
b) If "Gopher" appears in the list of applications that have previously requested access to this file, make sure that there IS a check mark next to it. If the check does not appear, simply click on the "Allow Access" column next to "Gopher".
c) Click the OK button in QB to save changes.
