pretty sure rubber is naturally white ,so black rubber has been coloured so it might be whatever colours the belt black thats stinking

Some belts, such as this one, have kevlar fibers in them.

That is the idea. The tensile strength to weight ratio of kevlar is 5 times stronger than steel on an equal weight basis.
I am not sure what fibers are used in general belts but my guess is they are not going to be as strong as kevlar.
