Hi Chad. You will typically need the following fees and rates on such a merchant account...Make sure the rates are at or below the ones below as a guide. These are close to cost.

Monthly statement fee $7.00
Monthly internet gateway fee $8.00
monthly minimum $0.00
annual fee $0.00
internet transaction fee $0.00
regular transaction fee .18 cents
qualified rate (credit cards) no higher than 2.15%
qualified rate (debit cards) No higher than 1.99%
mid qualified no higher than .75%
non qualified no higher than 1.75%

Make sure the one you choose fits the above and make sure their are no early cancellation fees. Hope this helps.

This information may or may not be covered in the link Steve posted:

Paypal.com offers a pretty quick and simple merchant account option which allows you to accept credit cards both through your website via an independent, integrated, shopping cart and via telephone.

This option runs about $30/month + fees per transaction.

I have noticed there are different plans. Isn't one of them free per month? What is the difference in the plan between the Free monthly one and the $30 a month one?
