Finished up a bush removal job yesterday that I had been putting off till spring and lets face it here in WV its seems to be spring things are turning green already .
The Bushes I removed had root balls about 3 feet in diameter and pretty heavy luckily there was a place on the property to dispose of them a bit through the woods and roll them down a 150 foot steep hill
( to steep to walk up or down ).
Well first day on the job I used my truck and it was just a pain to lift the root balls into the bed of the truck because of weight,so I figured use the old JD lawn tractor and trailer i have .IT worked great until the unloading part.
Backed the trailer to the edge of the steep hill and started to roll the root balls out and was enjoying watching them roll down the hill to the swamp below ,but then the last one things get really interesting .
Roll the large root ball from the front of the trailer to the rear of the trailer at that time all the weight is behind the axle of the trailer which lifts the tongue of the trailer into the air which is connected to the rear of the little JD lawn tractor this in-turn lifts the rear wheels of the JD off the ground .
Can you see where this is going yet ??
Well the rear wheels on the JD are where the breaks are so with the rear wheels off the ground there are no longer any tires that have breaks on the ground and down the hill the tractor heads.
Thanks god for old barb wire fences as there was one strand of barb wire that managed to snag the deck of the tractor and save it from going down the hill .
After my heart started beating again i got out the chains and got the truck to pull it back up the hill ,thankfully no damage but did get to actually use my 4wd on the truck this year for the first time since we have had no snow . the pictures do not do the steepness of the hill justice
