How awesome is this? Richard is positioning his company as a quiet lawn care company powered by electric mower equipment. I think this is ingenius! He is later planning on franchising it.

If you want to franchise a business, it really needs to stand out and I feel this business stands out.

What's your take on it?

Hushed up: Whispercut now offers quiet lawn service in Naples area (http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2007/jun/25/hushed_whispercut_now_offers_quiet_lawn_service_na/?breaking_news) - Richard Evans worked long hours as a researcher for a hedge fund in Delray Beach.

He looked forward to sleeping in on the weekends. But every Saturday morning, the sound of neighborhood cutting crews woke him up like a blaring alarm clock. The whir of lawn mowers, the buzz of edgers and the screeches of leaf blowers drove him out of bed an hour after sunrise.

“I would call it the army of grass cutters,” he said. “They would come with their big John Deeres, these loud machines and blowers. They were just armed to the hilt to cut grass.”

They’d cut, run and “create havoc in the process,” he said.

One Saturday, Evans decided to do something about all the noise. It’s his reason for starting Whispercut, a lawn care service that “quietly runs on the sun.”

The company, based in Gainesville, has two clients in Naples. But Evans hopes to get a lot more.

“We are signing more as we speak,” he said. “We are getting the word out.”

His company has designed a line of lawn care equipment that runs on electricity generated by renewable energy **** solar and wind power. There’s a patent pending on the equipment and the Whispercut lawn care system, said Evans, a graduate of the University of Florida’s business school.

Down the road, Evans hopes to franchise his business. He hopes many others will hear his whisper.

I'd like to see a lot more about their company too. I really like the concept and I think it is do-able.
