Business licenses?

Does your area require the town council approve your business license before you can start your business? Or do you just have to pay a fee and then you get the license?

La Esperanza Lawn Care, a lawn care/handyman service located in Fallon.

I got mine and all I had to do is pay a $42.00 fee. It is for Lawn care and retail sales.
This way if a customer wants me to get plants for their flower bed I get them whole sale, Sell them retail and I make the profit. Yes I have to do a quarterly income tax and provide the sales tax but in the long run I make more money.

22 dollars was for the county fee and the remainder was for the city of Memphis fee, not to make this political or anything but the mayor is getting his fair share.
