This is an interesting article. When an lco works for a corporate lawn care service for 20 years, he learns a lot about what he doesn't like with them. Then he went off and did things his way.

Amazingly enoough when he go started, he didn't advertise! It was all word of mouth! You just can't seem to beat that!

What's yor view on this?

Lawn service shuns the corporate style (http://www.patriotledger.com/articles/2007/03/26/business/biz01.txt) - When Jason Caristi walked away last year from a 20-year career with corporate lawn care services, all he took with him was his green thumb.

Caristi, 41, said he was disillusioned by the corporations’ focus on growth and frenzied acquisitions of smaller businesses.

‘‘At the big companies, I found it very difficult to follow through with promises we would make,’’ he said. ‘‘Employees were paid on commission, and all customers saw was a bill flapping on the door and taillights halfway down the street.’’

‘‘There’s nothing like referrals for business,’’ he said. ‘‘People don’t really want to pick up the Yellow Pages and call someone. They want someone whose work they can see firsthand.’’

I just wonder if it was word of mouth or if maybe a customer list may have made its way in to his truck before he clocked out?

That's a possibility too.
