Stripes and Patterns Can Make a Job Fun

Tired of same lawn, different day?

I find that even though it takes longer to do a cut other than a straight line along the longest run, it can break up the monotony when I throw in a diagonal cut, or a "wavy" pattern...

This lawn is actually pretty hard to get nice lines on because it's really bumpy, so I was happy with the way it looked today.

Another lawn that I like to "mix up". Sometimes I do diagonal lines, sometimes I follow the curve of the deck/flowerbed...

I pretty much do that on my Zamboni , but I mix it up by doing figure 8's in the ice ,stars,hearts [valentines day] or even cutting the rink "backwards " which tends to freak the hockey idiots out .I was working a NHL Alumni game once and did the entire game with a different pattern for all 5 floods ,the players all came out to see me do it which was too funny since all of them have spent far too much time in a stupid rink to of not seen someone do that before .I also signed as many if not more autographs than any of them did after that as well !
Anyways I learned to do it by fooling around when I was bored of driving the same pattern everyday .

No specific feedback on the "special cuts", but then again, I don't see a lot of my clients very often. I have gotten plenty of "You do nice work" comments though - from clients AND from their neighbors.

Do you ever leave customer surveys behind to hear what the customers have to say?

Maybe on a postcard that are pre-addressed with a stamp?

I bet you might get some interesting feedback.

I'd also include photos of these lawns on your marketing material and website.

When you get that positive feedback from them, how do you follow up to try and get them to become customers of yours?
