Briggs & Stratton 5 hp compression

I am still perplexed as to why the engine will only run with choke on. i was thinking it might be bad valves that weren't providing enough pressure to suck the gas in when the choke is off.

so i hooked up a compression tester and got about 65 p.s.i.

i did a look up and that is supposed to be good. so now i am thinking it has to do with something in the carb. something just aint right because it's not sucking enough with the choke off to pull in the gas.

It sounds like your engine is starving for fuel.

It's gotta be something clogging up your carb somewhere then. Have you taken everything apart on the carb and cleaned it?
