This is a neat story. 'the 15-acre urban garden hidden within the vast Veterans Administration complex conceals a plucky entrepreneurial enterprise wrapped around a comprehensive social rehabilitation program.' How cool is that, that this garden and business was able to get started and help veterans! What a great use of their property.

Back to the Garden: A Green Jewel at the VA (http://www.palisadespost.com/content/index.cfm?Story_ID=2637) - In addition to its produce sales, the Vets' Garden operates a nursery/landscaping business and a full-service floral service which yield about $175,000 a year, says Bruce Rosen, president of the Friends of the Vets' Garden and the Westside Food Bank.

Thirty-one war vets**from Korea, Vietnam and Kuwait**are working in the garden as part of a six-to-nine-month transitional program under the supervision of Merle Fishman, an occupational therapist in charge of the rehabilitative program in the garden.
