Since I don't have much in the way of a portfolio, I was trying to come up with a way to show my abilities to forum members. I thought, what better way than to offer a FREE website! Here are the details.

How To Enter
Entering is simple. I have chosen a number between 1 and 1,000. I have already private messaged Steve with the number. To enter, you simply post your guess here. Only one guess please and you can't change your number once posted.

Who Can Enter
Absolutely anyone. Well, almost. You have to have a lawn care company and be a member of this forum. If you are a lurker reading this, you can qualify by joining.

The Full Details:
This will end at noon on the 18th of this month (This Friday). All guesses need to be made by then. I will go through at that time and announce the winner. (The winner will be the closest to that number) In the event of a tie, the parties will guess a new number and the closest to the new number will win. Process is repeated until we are down to one lawn care company.

I will then get to work on building a custom site. The site will be simple. Roughly four or five pages. It will be of the same quality that I would build for anyone. It will have a contact form. If you wish to accept credit cards, I can integrate PayPal to the website.

You will also receive 1 full year of support! This covers any updates or changes to the site FREE OF CHARGE!

The Fine Print
You are financially responsible for hosting and domain name. You can either set this up with GoDaddy or I can set it all up for you. Since this promotion is free for you, I require GoDaddy hosting. I am familiar with their site and set up and don't really want to get accustomed to another companies interface for this special offer. Plus, GoDaddy is probably the cheapest route for you. Hosting is currently $5.00 and if you purchase your domain name at the time you purchase the hosting, you get it for $1.99 instead of the regular $11.99. This is for .com names, other TLD may cost more or less.

If you don't want to be bothered with setting this up yourself, you can send me $10.00 via PayPal and I'll set it all up for you. This will cover my PayPal fees and be enough for me to secure the name and hosting.

Also, I would prefer the winner send me their logo (if they have one), any pictures they would like on the site and what each page should say (the copy). This isn't a requirement but will make the development time much shorter.

I think that covers everything. If I have been unclear on something or you have any questions, let me know and I'll address your concerns.

HAPPY GUESSING!

Sure does. There will be 1 winner no matter what. In the event of a tie (two or more people pick the same number or two pick a number an equal distance from the actual number) we will have another "pick a number" between those until it is narrowed down to one winner.

Colin

Once you have a paypal account, go to paypal,

click on Merchant services
under the heading - create buttons choose Add to cart or Buy now to create a payment button

You can give several money amounts in the button

generate html code and insert it into your website.

PM sent sir. No money required. If you feel you must give something, next time you are near your local food pantry, stop in and give a small donation.

The Cleaning Doctor has been kind enough to add even more to this deal! He is adding a 1 month subscription to The Sandbag SEO Fortification to the deal! So the winner really is a winner now! :) I'm not sure what this package consists of so Dr. I'm sure there are questions. Feel free to explain exactly what they are getting.

You can see what options are available on the home page of Search Engine Tweaks.com (http://www.searchenginetweaks.com) under the SEO Fortification tab below the slider.

I have tested this on my sites and for the last 6 weeks on my customers and the results are speaking for themselves. All of it is white hat only so you don't get penalized by the big "G".

Here is an example after 6 weeks with one customer

Keyword 1 - started at 0 now at 38
Keyword 2 - started at 95 now at 65
keyword 3 - started at 0 now at 56
keyword 4 - started at 0 now at 69
keyword 5 - started at 222 now at 29

As this is a manufacturer of a product, the keywords are VERY competitive. We are only using the Sandbag package at this time. When I say they started at 0, this means that they did not show up in the top 1,000 results.

For instance keyword 2 is highly competitive and is searched 49,500 times per month world wide and 40,500 times per month in the US.

I can't get into specifics, but I can say that this process is so random, another SEO pro would have a hard time discovering what I am doing. I know as I have had others try. That is also the reason I don't use company names or keywords in posts.

How do bounty hunters find their prey? They look for patterns and follow that to the prey. I don't have a pattern, that is why these sites I have been using this system on have survived the Google change. Heck I don't even link to your site all the time. That is how random it is.

Good luck and congrats to the winner.

I bid ONE DOLLAR, Bob!

I've always wanted to do that.
:D

I don't think I qualify, as I don't host with GoDaddy, but "1" is my guess anyway.

HAHA nice! I've always wanted to do that too! You do qualify, if you want a new site. My purpose in doing this is I want to build a site for someone on this forum to showcase my abilities to all forum members. This new site will be hosted on godaddy because I am familiar with their interface. I'm sure it isn't much different elsewhere (it all pretty much works the same way) but since I'm not getting paid for this, I prefer to use what I am comfortable with.

If you want a new site and are willing to purchase hosting from godaddy then your bid stands. Until someone comes along and bids 2 dollars that is. ;) haha I always wanted to do that more than bidding a dollar. I never understood (and I've seen it more than once) someones turn comes up and there is 3 others to bid and they still bid a dollar! lol

On hosting accounts there is a way to FTP the files up to the hosting account. I will help if I need to. So it should not matter who you host with but you may have to change the account to allow uploads via ftp to your site.

Haha. I feel a little better. Apparently it is going to reach 70 this Friday! I'll believe it when I see it. I am only 30 and I'm already planning my retirement in FL just like every other American, it seems. lol

I anticipated having this site ready by today. It seems our winner has vanished in the last few days. :o Once he responds to my first email, I'll know where to take the design from there. Hopefully we can get things happening very soon.

To those of you new to the business and would like another chance, you can enter part 2 here (http://www.gopherforum.com/showthread.php?t=13801).
