Should Sirius and XM merge into one company? Would that be in the best interests of consumers?

Sirius-XM merger makes sense (http://money.cnn.com/2007/01/10/news/companies/sirius/index.htm?postversion=2007011017) - The chief executive officer of Sirius Satellite Radio told investors Wednesday that he would be open to a combination with his company's top rival, XM Satellite Radio.

Mel Karmazin, speaking at Citigroup's annual entertainment, media and telecommunications conference in Las Vegas, said that a merger between Sirius (Charts) and XM (Charts) could be in the best interests of both companies.

"One way you can create shareholder value is through consolidation, particularly in a fragmented industry like radio," he said. "Conceptually a deal makes sense and you could add value from synergies."

i like the idea. as theres some shows on both that i like. only problem i see. is rates will probably double. cause you wont have a choice.

I think that satellite radios are coming to an end. With all the new cars on the market with IPOD adaptor hook ups, there is no place left for the competition

i dont even use my ipod hook up. most radios play new songs. and i dont pay for the songs on my ipod anyways. so i need to figure out the new ones, and i do that listening to the radio.
