I was wondering what you guys would charge to dethatch (with machine) a 18000 sq ft lawn. I know it is labor-intensive dirty work but was just wondering what would be a good competitive price. client has almost 1 inch build up of thatch. thanks

Do you have the machine to do this or will you have to rent it? Have you performed this service before?
What is your estimate amount of time it will take you?

Steve, will be renting the machine, $60 for the whole day. Yes I have done this service before and realize more damage than good can be done if not done properly. I am estimating it to take 2 1/2 to 3 hours to power rake and clean-up.

Is it possible to line up a bunch of these jobs on one day?
If you are on that job for (3 hours x $45 an hour) + $60 to cover the rental, that would come out to close to $200. Depending on your hourly rate.
But if you can do say 3 dethatching jobs, you could split that rental fee across three customers and only have to add a $20 fee to cover the rental for each one.
What's your thoughts on that?
