Starting a partime biz

Hey guys im a first time poster but I have read the blog and read the forums for quite some time. Im looking to start a little part time biz. My target is about 25 lawns. I would just like to know what you guys think the best way to start getting customers is? Ive thought about about passing about 2-3000 flyers or maybe a direct mail campaign? Ive also thought about signs???

Also I have a 32" kees walkbehind but ive been thinking about buying a 32" stander. The reason being that thats the mower Id like to have and on my walkbehind its so hard to adjust the height. You've got to take the blade off and remove/add spacers on the wheels.

Any thought? ideas? Tips?

Can you start with handing out some business cards and trying to work your immediate social network first? Try getting some family and friends to sign up with you? Then work on their neighbors? Are you a member of any clubs or organizations you can network through?
