Hey guys im expecting this months to be slow for me and since im new to the business i started to offer free landscape services around the area where I work i have several designs where clients can choose from and well tomorrow im going to speak to one of my clients and see if she would allow me to advertise by offering to re-landscape her front lawn, right now she has several flower beds but they are in terrible shape, she has done several projects on her backyard but has not touched the front yard because she ran out of money, I made good money with her so far so if i spend about 400-$500 it wont hurt my pocket and since she has lots of people always visiting and she is in a main street im hoping people will see the job and ask or call the small banner im going to leave in the front. I will update to let you guys know how it goes :)

Cheers

That is very creative. Take some pictures.

What is your view on doing something like that versus doing something in your community where you are helping someone really in need or maybe doing something to spruce up a park?

Something that you can get media attention for and build goodwill within your community for helping many?

i talked to the client and she loves the idea of getting something free and she is willing to allow me to place my Banner on the property, lets see how long it can stay on her front lawn before the city takes it down.

i would love to work with my community that way a lot more but sadly they would rather pay me then allow me to work for them for free because they fear me or my worker might get hurt and we might sue them... which i think is a ridiculous excuse for keeping the old landscapers in their books... of course im talking about my city i might look to other cities they might apreciate my work a bit more.

another thing is that i offered a few churches my services for free, so i could use their invoice for taxes and they didn't want it either haha its harder then it seems.

i would do free work for people that need it in a heart beat but its harder to get it around my area.

I am so very impressed with your efforts!

Have you been looking around town and finding places where you could simply clean up an area and spruce it up?

What if you just kept it simple and did it. Have a picture taken of your crew doing the cleanup and send it to the paper with a little blurb.

Maybe something like, 'you drive by this one location everyday and you just feel it badly reflected on the town you lived in so you thought there would be no harm in cleaning it up a bit.

If everyone does a little, we can all do a lot.'

You just might get a picture in the paper. I would try it a couple of times. Surely they will print at least one of your submissions or maybe even do an article about it with you.

Maybe you could even form a community volunteer group to help clean areas up?

Keep thinking and experimenting, I think you are onto something.

I've looked and wondered how that might work never actually taken the initiative to do so. There is an area i drive by all the time its on the entrance of the freeway, the palm trees look horrible and the whole landscape there has never been kept up and now that our city lost millions of dollars no one has touched that area i might do it after this little project :)

the picture in the paper sounds like some free publicity that i might need around my area, even though i Do Not have any clients around here i might do some in the area where i am concentrated :)

thank you for the input u guys always make the ideas better :)

One thing that people can look into for good will is old cemeteries. At least back in Tennessee they were all over the place.Overgrown and falling apart. What about up keeping one of these 2x a month. Get the local news to come out and get before shots and then after shots.

That is a great idea with the cemeteries! Did you ever get involved with that or know anyone that did? Did the media ever cover that in the paper?

That is great! Make sure you take before and after pictures of the areas you work on too.

Also what about veterans in your area? Would any of them need their property cleaned up?

I would figure all of these things would make for a great story.

I look forwards to seeing your pictures and how you harness it to help in your marketing.

Also, you could do things like maybe plant flowers at a senior center? Or something that brightens a group of peoples day.

Maybe at the local hospital? Library?

Places where people will start talking more about you.
