Just wanted to drop a quick note to say hello and thanks for all the advise I have gotten from the sight. I have been in business (part-time) for 10 years...This next year 2011 I will be going full time, tired of working for someone else, ready to be my own boss! Wish me luck and will checking in throughout the winter for some more advise! Maybe throw my 2 cents around every now and then!

Welcome to our forum!
As you had been in business part time for 10 years, did you want to go full time at all during that period or was this a relatively new decision?
A lot of new business owners worry about how long it will take them to go full time, do you have any words of wisdom on why you chose 10 years to make the jump?

Yes 10 years is a long time, but I had a good paying day job that I did not want to give up. I was cutting lawns for a guy in the summer and then we would cut fire wood in the fall. He is getting older and wants to slow down a little, and he asked if I wanted to take over his lawns full time! I thought about it for a long time and said yes I would take it over for him. Not giving up my day job just yet but will in the summer! Lots of solid customers that have been around a long time, so it will be good money...Guess I always liked the extra money from working for someone else, but it's time I become the boss and grow this business like I know it can be!
Only advise I can offer is, just be sure you have all your ducks in a row before you do anything!

What did you think of the wood cutting business for the fall and winter? Do you feel you might get into that in the future?
