We have weird ordinances here about starting jobs. Can’t start work before 9:00A Monday thru Saturday or before 1:30P on Sunday. $100.00 fine if you get caught.

My wife and I started at 500A this morning on a 3,000 sq. ft. sod job. Wanted to get it done before it got as hot as forcasted (105) Just finished and got back home.

What do you think of this.

I would think that would be a noise ordinance though wouldnt it? Thats a little odd if its in general. Especially the sunday one. I dont do work on sunday for religious reasons but still 1:30 a little excessive.

Here it is noise but we start at 7:30 during the week and 9 on Sundays, I forget what the laws are but the by-Law people don't work on Sunday so it's a stupid rule as who is going to give us a ticket:)

Speaking of stupid rules, new law here, can't have a receiver hitch in your truck it you do not have a trailer on $165.00 fine, I received a warning Friday, I said to the beautiful police officer and I mean drop dead gorgeous, how in the heck are we to know about these new laws???? She said when we pull you over and smiled......wonder if she likes me.....NOT

This is the Bible Belt. With the exception of grocery stores, stores can't open until 1:30 on Sunday.

The liquor laws are even stranger. No alchohol can be sold on Sunday (Midnight Saturday till midnight Sunday). The liquor stores can be open only from 9:00A till 7:00P Nonday - Friday. Closed Saturday. Here is the odd part! Beer and wine can be sold 24 hours a day except for Sunday.

And yes, all external work can not be started until 9:00; eveh house painting. Many people are angry over this, expecially the retired people who what to do their yard work before it gets too hot. I guarantee it will be an issue in November. It's already starting!

Can you come up with any logical reason as to why this would be a law?

Occupational Health and Safety she said pushed this one through, guys like me might be in a parking lot and leave the hitch on, keep in mind the hitches are big, someone a while back was walking by the back of a truck, hit the hitch and broke their knee, thus it all started. I think it's ridiculous but whatever.

That's the most stupid law i've ever heard of.

I agree to the new distraction law which is not allowed to text/talk/ipod without being hands free. But having a hitch on ? hahahahah

People are tired of replacing the water pump and the radiator when they rear end someone with a hitch.

Perhaps but you are talking Insurance, it's a stupid regulation, if you cant walk by my truck without breaking you leg then you might want to consult an eye doctor

LOL I know what you mean. My wife walks into it all the time and she knows it is there. By the way how fast do you have to be going to break your knee? It probably happened to one person and they got in touch with the right politician. Cops were probably chasing some criminal and the criminal ran into the hitch while trying to get away.

You shouldn't be walking that close to MY truck anyways.

Steve, how does that work with construction. I know those guys like to start early so they can be done by the hottest part of the day. Maybe you need to work from 5 pm to 1 am..... With an excavator LOL

You know, now that I think of it, I have actually seen this happen many times! I don't think it should require a law though. Jeeze talk about over regulation!

I did some research on this and WOW.

Councilwoman James sues over scratch (http://www.brooklynpaper.com/stories/33/12/33_12_sw_tish_suit.html) - Councilwoman Letitia James has filed a personal injury suit against an itinerant laborer after she allegedly injured herself walking into his legally parked truck.

The Democratic lawmaker, who makes $122,500 a year as the people’s representative in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill, is seeking an unspecified amount of damages for wounds she claims to have sustained on July 11 when she walked into a four-inch trailer hitch protruding from David Day’s parked car.

That's a picture of the actual hitch!

What's next! Will side mirrors need to be removed as well?
