Okay so i got a 93 blazer s-10 4x4
great car..only problem ive had was the fuel pump busted..but that was an easy replacement fix..what do you expect from a car thats been sitting for 4 years..hahah

regardless of that..it runs perfect..i love it..but
the lock on the hatch is broke
so what do i do? i go to autozone and pick up the part..takes about 3 minutes of my time and costs 18 bucks.

i figure ill go home..pop off the interior panel and bam done..pop it back on and good to go

but nooooo
chevy has to make it extrememly complicated
to make this clear
i am NOT willing to pay to get it done at a dealer.

so!
Problem number 1: Cant get the interior off unless the hatch is open
problem 2: cant get the hatch open without the glass open
problem 3: cant get the glass open..

so heres my option..take the window off of the hinges, actuators, wiper motor, etc.

or cut a hole in the interior..last thing i want to do..
does anyone know of any other way to get it open?
i know this has nothing to do with grass or weeds im sorry..

i might actually just punch the hole in the interior from frustration..
POW! Right in the kissa!

Try this: BLAZER REAR DOOR and HATCH PROBLEM SOLVED If you hear the release motor when you push the button on the rear gate but the hatch or door won't open. . . .by lifting the gate latch on the INSIDE of the car and wedging a stick to hold it open a couple of inches, go out of the car to the back and you can just see the brass lever that releases the hatch. A screwdriver carefully inserted can easily lift the lever and open the gate. There are about 10 or so nuts to unscrew to lift the interior panel off the gate, and the lift latch handle also needs removing (2 screws, philip's head) The only other part that needs loosening are the rods that are secured in the plastic clips, not hard to figure out. Once the panel is removed you can see the mechanism that is spring loaded and it is very likely that this is the part that is broken. If it is not connected to a 2" brass arm, then you need to fix this part as it is the mechanical portion that pulls that lever you had to pop with the scredriver.

At least you can still get into the Ford. :D

If you can't tell I love Ford vehicles. Never had a large problem with them. Lots of trouble with the Chevy vehicles. Plus I love how solid the front end is on the Fords. I had a friend that was always replacing the aframe bushings on his chevy.

I love Ford... I love dodge... but I have to admit that Fords handling is top notch & I cannot complain. Perfect work vehicles!

loveee dodge..wanna get me a ram
that or ford super duty

but i cant complain..got the car free..haha

okay..so update
thanks for the info stew but thats for later models..mine is half glass on top and half hatch on bottom..the glass has hinges that open up and you cant get the hitch down unless the glass is up.. thats why im in trouble..
i can get the hatch..just not the glass..so..instead of taking off the glass..i decided to play with some drill bits and bore out the lock cylinder..
it dont matter much since i am replacing it anyways
but
i had to stop because its pitch black and starting to rain :(
however..i have no plans this weekend :D so i get to spend the entire time on my car :) and alone..:/

boring/innovative weekend haha
thanks for all the help..and i cant wait to get a decent TRUCK! ahah

I am finding it hard to beleive anybody would be whining about a 17 year old chevy ,they must be crap.

actually its a really nice car..just the truck lock is coroded from sitting for four years..and i wasnt whining i was asking if anyone had any though as to what i could do to get it off..
its in perfect condition.. i put a 3 inch lift on it, cooper stt's, PA System and a new air intake
theres a tiny rust spot on the rear passenger quarter panel but thats it..and the engine in it was completely rebuilt and has a new transfer case..its not a piece of crap..its actually something im gonna take mudding so that means it has to be in good condition..

and i dont think its very polite to bash down someones post. were all friendly here and you should try that sometime :)
have a wonderful night bruce

or cut a hole in the interior..last thing i want to do..

I have had to do this to many of my vehicles in order to get at window motors and gears and all the other stuff wedged in there :) But in the end, I got it working cause I had access to it after cutting out some metal.

You could have went to a s-10 message board and asked there... 100% sure someone had the fix there..
