Roxanne Dobosz had worked for another LCO for 12 years before starting her own company. She quickly found out she needed help and hired a business consultant. Kory Kogon helped Roxanne come up with a business plan by first asking her "how she is different from other landscapers."

That is a great question and it's something we should always be asking ourselves. How do we stand out? What makes our company different and unique? Then use the difference in our marketing.

Landscaper had it all, except a business strategy (http://www.azstarnet.com/allheadlines/136156) - With the start of a new business came a realization: Unlike working for someone else, where each facet of the business has dedicated personnel, "here I'm the whole kit and kaboodle,"

"I challenged her with coming up with a competitive advantage. How she is different from other landscapers." Kogon noted that any business owner can say the difference lies in their passion or creativity.

She suggested Dobosz develop case studies describing her work with a client from start to finish, complete with before and after photos.
