How important is word of mouth to get new clients? Well if you base your assumption on reading this article, word of mouth is huge! I agree it is as well.
Word of mouth doesn't come easy and it takes time. Let your customers know you would appreciate if they referred your services to their friends. Give them business cards or magnetic cards. Get your name out. Let people know who you are. Get mentioned in the paper.

Do you have a word of mouth story? Tell us please http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Word of mouth plants seeds of good yard care (http://www.ajc.com/monday/content/epaper/editions/monday/living_446943b71413b1b91080.html) - No service cranks up the conversation more at ****tail parties or community gatherings than lawn maintenance, a subject that prompts homeowners to exchange names and numbers like patrons in a singles bar.

"I'd had it with my service never showing up on time and damaging my shrubs," says Vicki Weston of Decatur. "After complaining about them to others at our spring block party, I not only found I wasn't alone but also tapped into some good leads for hiring someone else."

That kind of word of mouth is key in hiring a service.
