My father gave me two line trimmers the other day. Neither run at the moment. They both seem well built though. One is a Ryobi 790r, the other is a IDC 580 Supreme. Anybody know anything about them? Are they any good? Worth my time working on them?

A simple answer is, no, they are simply not worth repairing. They are little better than any Weedeater brand trimmer. They are simple consumer grade trimmers that were intended for 1-2 seasons of use trimming one yard per week.
If you get them repaired or tuned up, they may last several seasons or 2 weeks.

Unfortunately, that is probably the best place for them.
Good luck!
