Most of us have probably heard about the country music band The Dixie Chicks publicly stating their displeasure with George Bush.

Their new album came out at #1 and is still there for the second week but ticket sales in red states have been down presumably due to their outspoken political viewpoints.

Have you or others you know been turned off to The Dixie Chicks because of them stating their political views?

Also does it make a difference that they are entertainers and musicians? The world's history is full of artists singing songs, making paintings, writing books on historical events. Should The Dixie Chicks be any different?

Should business state their political view points?

Does your business?

Red state backlash hurts Chicks' tour (http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Music/06/09/dixie.chicks.reut/index.html) - Country music trio the Dixie Chicks, still taking heat for criticizing U.S. President George W. Bush, are weathering sluggish ticket sales in several cities for their upcoming U.S. tour, industry watchers reported on Thursday.

When it comes to customers, I do not say anything political or say what is my political point of view.

Do you think artists/musicians should? Do they help effect policy and political change?

my personal opinion all celebrities do not make a difference at all with what their personal views are. But yes, it does hurt or help their appearance and/or career though.

I agree with Troy, their opinions really don't matter but people make a big stink when they say something. I never really liked them to begin with, and as I recall everyone was upset because they had said something about the troops. People care when you start talking bad about the troops, that will for sure hurt them.

On a side note, anyone else notice the dixie chicks are kinda ugly? http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I mean they're good looking, but each one has something weird looking about them! (sorry I've just always thought that, so I always have to make a comment on it)
